Learn to use selections, layers and masks to limit image adjustments and tools to specific areas of an image. For example, selections and layer masks can be used to blur or darken backgrounds while leaving the subject unchanged. Selections can be used to remove unwanted objects (or people). Layer blending modes will be explained and demonstrated. Text boxes and effects like “drop shadow” will also be demonstrated and used in class exercises.
Laptops are encouraged, and students will have opportunities to try new tools and techniques in class. Students without laptops will be teamed with those bringing laptops to perform class exercises. This approach has worked well in other Photoshop classes at Southern Photo.
